Biography

Sara Hagale is an artist who draws inspiration from her life. While focusing on using just a few lines, she attempts to capture the nuances of emotion. Her work is both precise yet minimal. Its typically small scale encourages intimate viewing and allows viewers to focus on one thing at a time. She works primarily with pencil on paper and often leaves behind faint lines and remnants of previous marks. Sara has been sharing her art through her account on Instagram since 2016, where she continues to post today. Her playful scenes draw viewers in, urging them to pause and reflect. While her formal background in graphic design gave her a foundation in composition and type, she hopes for her work to exist without offering much explanation of its meaning. Originally from Huntsville, Alabama, Sara received her BFA in Graphic Design from Auburn University in 2016. Sara has exhibited with Hashimoto Contemporary and has been featured in Colossal.
