Hashimoto Contemporary is pleased to announce our participation in Zona Maco. This will be the second year in a row the gallery exhibits in Mexico City at the fair. Our booth will feature new and recent works by Genevieve Cohn, Carlos Rodriguez, Seonna Hong, Dan Lam, Mu Pan and Emilio Villalba.

Genevieve Cohn grew up in rural Vermont and received her MFA in Painting from Indiana University. She has attended residencies at the Fiore Art Center, The Vermont Studio Center, The Ragdale Foundation, and AiRGentum. She is the winning recipient of the Hopper Prize. Her work has been featured in New American Paintings, Create Magazine, Art Maze Magazine. She is currently living and working in Boston, MA where she teaches at Wellesley College. Carlos Rodriguez lives and works in Mexico City. He studied Graphic Design at Universidad de San Luis Potosí, and worked as an Illustrator and Art Director in the Advertising Industry before he became a formal painter. His works explore the male body, sexual desire as a creative impulse, and issues of gender and identity. Inspired by classical painting, naïve art and porn, his playful work reveal scenes of men naturally engaged in their games and fantasies. Seonna Hong was born and raised in Southern California. She graduated with a B.A. in Art from Cal State University Long Beach and continued to hone her craft teaching art to children for several years. Her paintings are quietly narrative and often autobiographical and no doubt influenced by her time teaching as well as her work in TV and Feature animation. In 2006, she was the recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant. Her illustrated book, 'Animus' is in it's third printing and according to Ken Johnson (The New York Times),"...the paintings are beautifully made and the imagery is mysteriously touching." Hong is represented by Hashimoto Contemporary.

Dan Lam is an American sculptor of Vietnamese ancestry, best known for her "drippy" sculptures and use of vibrant color. Using non-traditional materials of polyurethane foam, acrylic paint and epoxy resin, her finished work often dangles over shelf ledges, contrasting emotions of desire and disgust. Lam lives and works in Dallas. Mu Pan is a Brooklyn based artist, originally from Taiwan. Pan received his BFA from the School of Visual Art in 2007. The artist considers himself to be a storyteller first and foremost, looking to create an epic story in a self-created, imaginative world. Placing more of an emphasis on linework, the artist breaks conventions of narrative image making, instead laying out fluid compositions similarly to topographic maps. An elegant sense of controlled chaos permeates the work, brimming with energy and life. Emilio Villalba is a Mexican-American artist born in Chula Vista, and currently living and working in San Francisco. He earned his MFA from the Academy of Art, winning Directors Choice Award for painting of the year in 2011. Before his career as a painter, Villalba was a visual artist working on animated television and films. Villalba collaborated with Valentino in 2019 for their presentation at Art Basel Miami Beach where he hand-painted bespoke bags for their winter collection. In 2022 the artist created paintings for their Rendez-Vous collection and Valentino beauty for their Summer campaign. Villalba has been featured in New American Painting, Forbes, Juxtapoz, Hi-Fructose and many more. The artist is represented by Hashimoto Contemporary.
