Press release

NEW YORK CITY - Hashimoto Contemporary is pleased to present Maybe You Know The Place, a solo exhibition by Huntsville, Alabama-based artist Sara Hagale. In her debut solo exhibition, the artist invites viewers into a world that is at once delicate, humorous and deeply reflective.

The artist works primarily in pencil on paper, creating intimate, small-scale drawings that invite close and contemplative viewing. Through subtle mark-making, she captures fleeting moments of human experience with remarkable restraint. Her intentionally minimal composition, which are often composed of only a few lines, carry a quiet emotional weight, where nuance emerges through simplicity. In the title piece, Maybe You Know The Place, a small figure stands before a wide window with horizontal blinds, capturing a tender, yet everyday solitary moment.

In Maybe You Know the Place, Hagale deepens her exploration of the human condition through a lens that feels simultaneously personal and universally resonant. Quiet figures and understated gestures unfold within spare compositions, encouraging viewers not only to observe, but to feel and recognize something of themselves in the delicate spaces between the lines.

Join us for the opening of Maybe You Know The Place on Saturday, February 21st with a reception from 6pm - 8pm. The artist will be in attendance. The exhibition will run through Saturday, March 6th.
