Overview
Hashimoto Contemporary 'Summer Group Show' installation

Hashimoto Contemporary is pleased to present our second annual Summer Group Show, featuring a vibrant mixture of represented artists, friends, and family. Our June exhibition brings together a multitude of makers who have helped shape the programming at Hashimoto, in addition to some new faces we look forward to welcoming to the space.

Since the gallery’s debut in December 2013, our represented roster has provided a lively mix of genres and mediums. Their ever-evolving practices reach anywhere from figurative investigations and large-scale murals, to site-specific installations and social satire. This year’s Summer Group Show will feature work from returning artists like distinguished painters Jessica Hess and John Wentz, as well as the multi-disciplinary Crystal Wagner and Hamberg-based street artist 1010 (pronounced ten-ten.)

Alongside the members of our roster, Summer Group Show will also feature artists who are less familiar to the gallery. This innovative group focuses on a developing language of material and the current discourse surrounding the new contemporary scene. Their wide array of practices range from the seamless ink and collaged works of Matthew Craven (New York) to the chaotic and seductive mixed media tableaux of Kate Klingbeil (Oakland, CA.) The saturated paintings of Mario Ayala (Los Angeles) and Casey Gray (San Francisco) display unconventional techniques of mark-making through the use of air brush and acrylic aerosol. Additionally, conceptual sculptor Jeremiah Jenkins (Richmond, CA) will be exhibiting with us for the first time, bringing a whole new notion of “object” to the gallery space. These perceptive artists will come together under one roof, representing the outstanding creative talent growing both locally and abroad.
