Biography

Dennis Brown (aka Bagger43) is a mixed media artist, illustrator, and designer based in Francisco, CA. Although he's skilled in a wide variety of mediums - from drawing, painting, and collage to photography, laser cut, and screenprinting - the artist has shifted course to now focus mainly on pen and ink drawing.

The artist was born in the Phillipines in 1983, raised in Japan at the Kadena and Yokota Air Force Bases, and moved to the United States in 2001 to study illustration at college. While growing up overseas, Brown worked as a bagger at a grocery store during high school - and thus his pen name, Bagger43, was born. He graduated Florida's Ringling School of Art and Design in 2005, shortly before moving to San Francisco (where he currently resides) for the creative energy and diversity that persists beneath the heavy footprint of today's tech industry.

Dennis' clients include AKQA, Ecko, Zynga, Imagine FX, Scratch Magazine, Popular Science Magazine, and Brand Studio Publishing, among many others. Although he's skilled in a wide variety of mediums - from drawing, painting, and collage to photography, laser cut, and screenprinting - the artist has shifted course to now focus mainly on pen and ink drawing. Brown says he enjoys the brush pen tool most because "it’s really just about putting down a clean mark and working with a variety of different line work."
