Future Fair

Chelsea Industrial, 13 - 16 May 2026

NEW YORK CITY—Hashimoto Contemporary is pleased to announce our participation in Future Fair. This will be the third year in a row the gallery exhibits at the New York City fair, where we will be featuring represented artists Scott Albrecht and Angela Burson.

Scott Albrecht was born in New Brunswick, NJ, and currently lives in Brooklyn, NY. In 2003 he received a degree in graphic design from the Art Institute of Philadelphia. Perhaps best known for his wood relief pieces and murals, Albrecht also works in a variety of other mediums including steel, collage, and pen & ink. While his work is largely informed by typography, its aim is to reconsider the relationship between message and viewer. In his works, letterforms are abstracted and reconstructed creating a space for the viewer to more intentionally engage with a message through alternate means of form, color, sentiment, exploration, and introspection in the hope of creating a deeper personal connection.

Angela Burson is a visual artist based in Savannah, GA. Burson is an alum of the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she received her BFA in painting in 1991. Influenced by anachronistic images of fashion and personal objects, her paintings feature figures, their belongings, and interior spaces that indicate complex psychological and social relationships with one another. Often, Burson renders the figures headless so the viewer sees the clothed body not as a portrait but as a collection of objects and patterns, creating a surreal connection between realistic subject matter and flat, repetitive design. Shirts, empty suits, bandaged arms, headless torsos, a suitcase, a cat, a toy, a vacant room, and myriad other everyday objects and scenes are all employed as signifiers, providing glimpses into the complexities of identity and the ripe potential for meaning-making in the relationships between objects.

Join us May 13th - 16th at booth U6 for Future Fair at the Chelsea Industrial Building. A VIP preview will be held on Wednesday, May 13th from 4pm - 8pm. Tickets are available on Future Fair’s website.
